India 08 - Fundraising Events

Past Events ......

Andreas Fejer & John ButlerJohn Butler of the John Butler Trio has very genously donated goods to help fundraise for india. An autographed CD, DVD and cap were auctioned off to the highest bidder. The lucky recipient was 10 year old Andreas Fejer. Andreas, who plays guitar and didgeridoo himself, was a fan of Butler even before he moved to Australia last year. He first heard John’s music on a YouTube back in Denmark, his native country and fell in love with the song ‘Ocean’. Johns skills on the guitar won the heart of the young aspiring musician. Andreas met John in person to receive the goods. John even gave Andreas his practice ‘Didgeridoo’ and gave him a few guitar tips.

Thank you to both John & Andreas for your support!

Pedal Power

On Saturday the 17th May the cycle studio at Lords Sports Club in Subiaco was spun around from the normal to cater for a total of 50 riders to take part in a 5 hour indoor cycle marathon. We had a variety of participants teaming up to relay their way through the afternoon, and a couple who even covered the distance on their own minus the odd break to refill the drink bottles.
The Brand new Murdoch Chiropractic Clinic / Move It marquee was set up (in doors) to provide a rub down area for the cyclists aches and pains, with students volunteering their expertise in hand on healing!

Huge thanks go out to all those who took part in the Grand event, for your energy, enthusiasm and the kind donations you all made to our work in India. Also thanks to Lords Sports Club for their support of the event and to all those who volunteered their time to make the event a huge success. All up we managed to raise over $2500 for our work in the communities of Siliguri India. Cheers!

“Timstead” – a Chiropractic Technique Seminar

This event was aimed internally (at Chiropractic students) to progress our own Chiropractic Art, Philosophy and Science. Held at Murdoch University on the 10th of May, Dr Tim Stark lead us on our journey, addressing some of our inner conflicts and helping us emerge stronger and more comfortable with our hand skills as well as broadening our Chiropractic technique. There were two separate sessions on the day of which enabled us to raise over $800 for the community of Siliguri. Thanks to those who supported the day and very special thanks goes out to Dr Tim for donating his precious time for us all, students and the Siliguri community.

We've had 2 cake sales at Bush Court at Murdoch University to raise money for our India trip. The first one was held on the 28th of February and we raised $220 from chocolate chip cookies, cherry ripe mud cake, cup cakes. The second was held on the 17th of April and we raised $240. There were some great treats including hazlenut slice, brownies, almond cakes and hazlenut pralines. Thanks to everyone who came up and bought cakes and to those who made donations!!

Lawn Bowls
India Cup 2008

On Sunday the 16th of March a group of Murdoch Chiropractic students, along with their friends and family, gathered at the Fremantle bowling club for some serious bowling. The purpose of the day was to assist with the fundraising efforts for the Murdoch Chiropractic school’s trip to treat people in some poverty stricken villages of Northern India.

We raised a total of $1400 dollars, so a big thankyou to those who took part and encouraged family and friends to join in and support our fundraising.

As well as bowling and eating we also had a special attraction….. watching Shane shave his head for the leukaemia foundation.  So thankyou also to Shane Mackintosh and Scott Bevan who provided some lunchtime entertainment and extra donation money.

Overall it was a great day everyone got into the spirit of bowling and fundraising. Thankyou again to everyone who supported this event.
